Manning Park Resort is about a 2-1/2 hour drive from Vancouver. A bit long for a day trip, but totally worth it!

We went during the week and there was barely anyone there, which was perfect for these COVID times. We had an awesome parking spot, right across from the day lodge and the lift was a short distance away.

The Mountain

Overall, I really liked the mountain for downhill skiing and highly recommend visiting Manning Park Resort.

They have two chairlifts. However because it was a weekday and not very many skiers were there, only one chairlift was operating. Unfortunately it was a fixed grip chairlift, so it didn’t slow down when we got on and off of it. So that meant you needed to be really comfortable with chairlifts, as we saw a few people struggling and falling off the chairlift at the top of the mountain.

A Mecca for Outdoor Sports

In the winter, Manning Park Resort offers: downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and tubing. In the summer, there is horseback riding, camping, hiking, biking, boat rentals and stargazing!

The birds are super friendly and are always looking for scraps of food!

We also made a new friend!

I would definitely consider Manning Park to be one of my favourite mountains to ski at and I would recommend this mountain to pretty much anyone at any level of skiing or snowboarding, as they have ski runs for every level. You just need to be really comfortable with getting on and off chairlifts!
