For our last big camping trip of the summer, we took an 11 day trip to Vancouver Island, and I am so excited to share our favourite parts of it with you!

Campground – the campground that we stayed at this trip was called Pacific Palms RV resort and it had everything! Pacific Palms is beachfront and has full service as well as Wi-Fi.

Beach – like I said before Pacific Palms RV resort is beachfront and the beach is amazing! The water is so warm and it has lots of large tidal pools which are great for skim boarding and swimming.

Sandcastle contest – one of the main events that was happening during our day was a Sandcastle building contest. I expected this competition to be small and not very impressive but boy was I surprised! Did you know that being a professional Sandcastle builder is actually a job? And these Sandcastles were crazy! It takes days to make these incredible sculptures and they even use special type of sand. Competitors each had a certain amount of sand and the theme this year was anything you think that is important to people today.

Surfing – I highly recommend surf sister because of their great quality of instructors and clear instruction on how to surf. It was a bit frustrating, but once I got the hang of it it was so much fun!

Beaches – throughout Tofino there are numerous different beaches, such as Cox bay Chesterman Beach and Long Beach on our previous trip. We body surfed at Chesterman Beach but this trip we surfed at Cox Bay because the waves were more suitable for surfing for beginners. These beaches are all so pretty and I would totally suggest surfing, skim boarding, and swimming there.

During our stay in Tofino, we also payed a visit to the Ucluelet Aquarium. This aquarium is a catch and release aquarium which means they catch local sea creatures and then release them after a while. I originally thought that the aquarium would have a lot more animals, but they had mostly smaller animals that were more common. This aquarium was still very interesting, as it was very hands-on and allowed us to actually touch some of the creatures. I think that overall this aquarium was very interesting, but I would recommend it to younger kids.

This was such a fun trip and I would definitely stay in both Tofino and Parksville again!
